On her 11-year relationship with Keith Britton: ”When it didn’t work [with Keith] it was heartbreaking for the both of us, but it’s life. I believe in love because I had it for so long, so I know it’s possible. I’m not one of these people who’s going, ‘Oh, because I was with someone for so long I need to take a break.’ What if love is just around the corner?”

On the type of man she looks for: ”A badass renegade! A pirate! A pirate who can cry. Oh, my God!”

On men: ”I worship men. Men are Adonises.”

On Hollywood’s obsession with youth: “I’ve been told by producer, ‘Well, you know we need to get on this because you’re not getting any younger.’ Women are reminded of their age all the time and it’s usually by a fricking fat, big-bellied old man with a comb-over and you look at him and you’re like, ‘Really? Give me a break. You just have more money and more power in this situation than I do, but not in my life.’ I’m tired of watching these 50-year-old actors with these 23-year-old actresses and they’re soul mates in the movie. What? [in real life] a 23-year-old would look at a 50-year-old and go, ‘Are you kidding me?!’”

On working the best thing about working on The Voice: “Seeing artists take a chance in front of the world. And of course, the coaches are awesome: Blake’s like my brother, and Shakira’s a sweetheart. Usher too. I’m such a fan; we toured together.”

On what draws her to the studio: “My experiences: being in love, being hurt, wanting to be free and growing from it. I’ve expressed all that on songs. That’s the greatest thing: an experience you can grow from. I’m more vocal about my ideas in person and music.”

On hanging with her girlfriends: “We love to vacation, drink wine, and gossip with each other about our own lives — we call it, ‘Wine Time.’”

On Kanye West: “Sometimes you’re just not ready. A person could have it all, and you’re not ready for it all. But this is where I probably always should have been…[marriage] is something I know that we both want in our future, but I don’t have this sense of urgency about it. I have this best friend who understands me and helps me through all my tough experiences, and vice versa, you know? It just feels like this is it for me.”

On her 2013 plans: “2013 for me is about scaling back. I want to focus on the few projects that I’m super passionate about and not spread myself too thin.”

Jennifer Lopez cover the debut issue of Glam Belleza Latina, a new magazine from the publishers of Glamour, targeting the “next generation in beauty for Latina women.” According to the press release: “The magazine celebrates Latina culture and its passion for beauty. Its pages cover everything from fragrance and skin care to jet-setter beauty tricks. The text weaves English (90 percent) and Spanish (10 percent) together to mirror the voice of today’s young Latina.”

In her interview Jennifer opens up about life, love and the diverse beauty found in the Hispanic culture.

On working with boyfriend Casper Smart on her recent 78-city tour: “Trust me, it told me that we get along really well. These are high-pressure situations, and he was in charge of the whole show. We grew through it. We were even better at the end.”

On if love makes you beautiful: “Absolutely. But I don’t think it’s the love of somebody else. It’s learning to love yourself, like Whitney Houston sang. That really is the greatest love of all…We beat ourselves up so bad, [saying] ‘I messed up. I made the wrong choice.’  I started embracing that I do make mistakes. I’m a human being. I’m supposed to be flawed. I’m perfect in my imperfections.”

On Latin beauty: “Latin beauty is the rainbow. We have black, we have white, we have caramel. We have blonds, we have blue eyes, we have brown eyes, we have the darkest of the dark skin. Latin beauty is for everybody.”

On being an individual: “I am confident. It doesn’t mean I don’t have my moments. But you have to remember the value of your individuality—that you have something special and different to offer that nobody else has.”
